The infectious diseases literature evolves quickly, making it difficult to stay grounded in the landmark trials that continue to shape current treatment practices. This session revisits foundational studies informing oral step-down strategies, treatment duration, and spectrum and resistance considerations, with a focus on the study design and real-world applicability that determine how well the evidence translates to practice.
Attendees will strengthen their ability to critically interpret these landmark trials — understanding their strengths, limitations, and applicability — and apply this evidence alongside patient-specific factors to support safe, effective clinical decision-making and improve patient outcomes.

Following introductions, the moderator and panelists will engage in discussions while incorporating questions and comments from attendees.
Target Audience: Pharmacists, early career infectious diseases physicians, and other providers involved in the care of patients with infectious diseases or those who participate in antimicrobial decision-making.
