The human gastrointestinal (GI) microbiome comprises approximately 100 trillion microorganisms, including bacteria, viruses, fungi, and protozoa. Maintaining the diverse composition in the GI microbiota is crucial to patient health because disruptions in the composition can lead to a number of diseases, including colonization and infection with multi-drug resistant organisms and Clostridioides difficile infection (CDI). Historically, proactive measures to restore a diverse microbiome have been limited and challenging to access. As microbiome restoration therapies become increasingly available, it is important for healthcare providers to understand the intricacies of the microbiome and its interplay with CDI.
The goal of this two-series educational webinar program is to provide information to pharmacists and other healthcare providers on the microbiome, CDI, and microbiome restoring therapies. Each webinar will include a presentation by expert faculty, active learning engagement questions throughout, and a live question & answer session.
This activity was planned to meet the educational needs of Pharmacists and other healthcare providers.
- Compare and contrast available microbiome therapies for the treatment of Clostridioides difficile infection (CDI)
- Outline the role in therapy for current and future microbiome therapies in the optimal treatment of patients with CDI using available clinical data
- Describe potential challenges and mitigation strategies for widespread use of microbiome therapies for treatment of CDI

To receive CE credit, participants must attend the webinar, complete online a post-test with a passing score of 70% or greater and an activity evaluation. Proof of completion will be submitted to NABP CPE Monitor.
Per ACPE requirements, CPE credit must be claimed within 60 days of being earned. Participants are responsible for verifying credits were transferred successfully to your NABP eProfile account before the ACPE 60-day deadline. After the 60 day deadline, SIDP will no longer be able to report your credit(s) for this activity.
