Progressive Health System located within close proximity to Portland and Boston.

The Clinical Pharmacist Infectious Disease Specialist is responsible for providing evidence-based, patient-centered, safe, effective and cost-effective pharmaceutical care to lead the antimicrobial stewardship program. This position reports performance indicators related to the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program on a quarterly and annual basis to the Infection Control Committee and Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee. This position also provides education for the providers, nurses, pharmacists, students, and other health-care professionals on infectious disease related medication management issues.

  • The ID specialist is expected to maintain the antibiotic formulary.
  • Assists in the preparation and implementation of pharmacy staff competencies related to antimicrobial management.
  • Serves as an active member for Pharmacy and Therapeutics committee, the Infection Control Committee and the Formulary Management Antimicrobial Stewardship Task Force.
  • Additional responsibilities are to optimize medication therapies as assigned by the Clinical Coordinator or Director of Pharmacy.
  • The ID specialist will also participate in precepting PGY-1 Residents and Pharmacy students.

Qualified candidates will have completed a Doctor of Pharmacy degree, PGY-1 pharmacy practice residency and have at least 1 year of Infectious Disease Pharmacy experience. Ideal candidates will have completed a specialized PGY-2 pharmacy residency in Infectious Diseases or relevant specialty training, or equivalent years of experience in practice.
