SIDP 25 Year CompendiumSociety of Infectious Diseases Pharmacists (SIDP) officially began in 1991. Informally, infectious diseases pharmacists had been meeting and networking for many years before, often over wine and hors d’oeuvres at various receptions during the Interscience Conference on Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy (ICAAC) meeting. From its foundation, the force behind SIDP rested on the volunteerism of its members. The founding fathers, Steven Barriere, John Bosso, Michael Dudley, Bruce Kreter, Ron Polk, and Randall Prince were in the midst of their own successful careers as they developed the Society. The substantial growth of SIDP, both in size and stature, is a testament to the personal and professional investments of its members. From its origins of approximately 75 members, SIDP has increased more than 5-fold with a current membership of almost 1,000 ID pharmacists. |
