    The UPMC Pharmacy Administration and Antimicrobial Stewardship (PAAS) Fellowship Program is comprised of practical, real-world experiences in antimicrobial stewardship and leadership to develop skills to prepare pharmacists to assume leadership positions in antimicrobial stewardship pharmacy practice. This position is Monday – Friday 7 am – 3 pm with additional on-call responsibilities overnight (these on-call responsibilities are taken from home). Staffing is every 4th weekend Saturday/Sunday either AM or PM shift (6:30-3 pm or 1:30 – 10 pm). In addition to one major holiday and two minor holidays. 

    Stipend for year 1 – $76,668

    Stipend for year 2 – $82,534

    The program is designed to provide a clinical and operational foundation of hospital antimicrobial stewardship care through the first year. This year focuses on applying core leadership principles and antimicrobial stewardship skills as integrated experiences. These experiences include rounding with clinical infectious diseases consult teams (including transplant infectious diseases, surgical (endovascular) infectious diseases, and general infectious diseases), antimicrobial stewardship block assignments for prospective audits with feedback and prior authorization practices, assistance with new service/protocol implementation, and financial stewardship.

    Job Description

    Provides Clinical Pharmacy oversight in coordination of clinical activities in specialized areas. The clinical coordinator may coordinate the clinical work of a group of clinical specialists to manage service lines within pharmacy management. The clinical coordinator will lead/chair specified areas in regard to drug program coordination and monitoring, staff development, evaluation and selection of medications, development of medication policies in order to advance pharmacy practice, and ensuring safe and cost-effective drug therapy and optimal patient outcomes. The clinical coordinator will act as chair for assigned committees within the healthcare system.     Antimicrobial Resistance (AR) Supervisor (Remote within CA)

    SUMMARY

    The Healthcare-Associated Infections (HAI) Program is one of two programs in the Center for Health Care Quality of the California Department of Public Health. The Program is responsible for the prevention, surveillance, and reporting of infections in California as mandated by Health and Safety Code. With support from federal funding, the HAI Program employs infection preventionists, public health educators, epidemiologists, and other staff to support activities and programs for the prevention of infections associated with the receipt of healthcare. The HAI Program has developed a multi-year strategy to prevent and contain the emergence and spread of antimicrobial resistance (AR), including: working with clinical and public health laboratories to facilitate testing to detect and report AR pathogens; and providing technical assistance to and convening local health departments (LHD) and healthcare facilities to implement comprehensive AR prevention and response activities such as antimicrobial stewardship (AS), conducting surveillance of AR pathogens, and building infection prevention and control (IPC) capacity to investigate and contain the spread of AR.

    The Antimicrobial Resistance (AR) Supervisor will be responsible for implementing the strategy by leading the HAI Program AR Prevention and Response team and working directly with healthcare facilities, laboratories, and local public health to promote and coordinate AR prevention and containment activities.

    The salary range for this position is $100,000/year to $150,000/year.
