Clinical Pharmacy Specialist - Inpatient Infectious Diseases
As a Pharmacy Clinical Specialist, you will ensure that safe, appropriate and cost-effective medication therapies are made available for patients according to established policies, procedures and protocols. To help achieve our mission, you will assume staffing responsibilities in the role of a Pharmacist to ensure smooth department operations. Providing education and information on pharmaceutical care and drug therapies to patients and healthcare team members is of vital importance. Supporting quality initiatives through data management/analysis and effective operation of the department through policy development and liaising with members of the medical community is required.

The Pharmacy Clinical Specialist will collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other allied health providers to provide excellent pharmaceutical care and services. They are responsible for ensuring safe, appropriate, cost-effective medication therapies for patients according to established policies, procedures, and protocols; providing accurate, adequate, and timely drug information; providing education to physicians, nurses, and pharmacists; responsible for supporting quality initiatives through data analysis and management; supporting effective operations through policy development, team member engagement, and expeditious medication order verification and delivery all while upholding the highest standards of excellence, integrity, and collaboration.
The Infectious Diseases Pharmacy Clinical Specialist must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, specialty training in or have equivalent years of experience in antimicrobial stewardship program management and specialty infectious diseases populations including immunocompromised hosts, maintain an active Virginia Pharmacist license in good standing, and obtain the necessary certifications (Board Certification in Pharmacy Specialties required within 2 years of hire).
