As the 30 years in SIDP celebration comes to a close, it’s amazing to reflect on the evolution this organization has experienced since its inception in 1991. From the shear growth in membership, ID residency programs, and committees, all the way to the development of the SIDP podcast, we have seen change.
One of the biggest changes was seen in late 2019 with the SARS-CoV-2 global pandemic. Leaders and members of SIDP stepped up during this time, not only in their own clinical practice, but again as a dependable infectious diseases resource for the masses. They volunteered to generate publicly available materials, such as the COVID-19 therapeutic reviews on YouTube, Breakpoints COVID-19 podcast episodes, a COVID-19 monoclonal antibody toolkit, and even patient education resources. These materials have a global reach and help achieve SIDP’s vision of safe and effective antimicrobials for now and the future.
Our leaders, both past and present, have been instrumental in getting SIDP to where it is today. With the accomplishments and growth of the current members, it is exciting to see where the organization will be in the next 30 years.
